Music photographers already have it challenging enough. Tight pits (sometimes none), 3 songs, no flash, low light, screaming fans…. so I figured why not challenge myself and do something a bit extra and get some pictures…of artist’s…shoes!
I know, sounds weird. Foot fetish? Shoe fetish? Who knows, probably both. But they say you can tell a lot about someone by the shoes they wear. And we always see images of faces, guitars, hair, props…but never the shoes!
How did it start? It was at The Cranberries show when I was stuck in a spot and Dolores was doing this funky dance right in front of me. All I could really shoot was her shoes. And then a few months later, same thing happened at a Poison show where Bret was wearing these pretty ratty boots.
And then off I went… shooting….shoes (?) hahaha. It is not always possible to get a decent shoe shot, but really, I try. Find those details… be different.
